Commission Structure
You choose your own affiliate commission on every product. The higher you set it, the more affiliates promote you. You only pay commission on completed, delivered sales.
You set the rate
Choose each product's affiliate commission: 3%, 5%, 10%, or 15%. We recommend at least 10% to attract the most affiliates. Commission only applies to completed, delivered orders.
Zero listing fees
List as many products as you want, in as many categories as you qualify for. You pay nothing until you sell.
Everything included
The commission covers affiliate rewards, payment processing, fraud protection, buyer dispute mediation, and affiliate attribution. No extras on top of the rate you choose.
How the commission is split
Commission is calculated on the item subtotal (sale price, excluding delivery and taxes), at whatever rate you set for the product. Of that commission, the affiliate who refers the sale earns 80% and AwaOwn keeps 20% to run the platform. You are never charged anything on top of the rate you set.
How commission is calculated
Commission is applied to the item subtotal only, meaning the product price the buyer pays, before delivery fees or taxes. You choose the rate when you add or edit a product, and the live breakdown on the product page shows exactly what the affiliate earns and what you keep.
Example A: A skincare product sold at ₦12,000 with a ₦1,500 delivery fee, commission set to 10%.
Commission: ₦12,000 × 10% = ₦1,200 (affiliate earns ₦960, AwaOwn keeps ₦240)
You receive: ₦12,000 − ₦1,200 + ₦1,500 delivery = ₦12,300 at payout.
Example B: A laptop sold at ₦850,000, commission set to 5%.
Commission: ₦850,000 × 5% = ₦42,500 (affiliate earns ₦34,000, AwaOwn keeps ₦8,500)
You receive: ₦850,000 − ₦42,500 = ₦807,500 at payout.
Why set a higher commission?
Affiliates choose which products to promote, and they naturally favour the ones that pay them more. A product at 10% or 15% will be picked up by far more affiliates than one at 3%, which means more reach and more sales for you. The choice is always yours, but a generous commission is the simplest way to attract a crowd of promoters.
What is not included in the commission base
- Delivery charges: passed through to you in full; not subject to commission.
- Taxes (VAT): collected and remitted by you where applicable.
- Cancelled or refunded orders: no commission is charged on orders cancelled before dispatch or refunded due to return or dispute.
Changing your rate
You can change a product's commission at any time from the product editor. The rate in effect when an order is placed is the rate used for that order's payout; changes are never applied retroactively. AwaOwn will provide at least 14 days' written notice by email before changing the available commission options or the 80/20 split.
